Angela’s Calm by Nature talk was fun and interactive. Everyone enjoyed re-connecting with nature and discovering new ways (or re-discovering old ways) to incorporate nature in everyday life. There was a lot of discussion regarding the benefits of including nature in our children’s lives as well and how they will benefit from doing this. I would highly recommend that every parent would benefit from attending one of Angela’s talks, for both their own well-being and their children’s. I recently participated in one of Angela’s “Calm by Nature” talks and I found Angela to be truly inspirational. She made me stop and think about my relationship with nature. I work full time as a primary school teacher, and as a busy mum, I was in need of some ways to reconnect with my two children. Doing this through nature seemed like such a calm and sensible approach.
Angela not only helped me with some strategies to reconnect with my own children but also with the students in my class. The day after the course, I raced to school and tried out a few tips. We had such a wonderful time, tasting fruit with our eyes closed and really savouring the flavours, feeling the textures of everyday natural items in our school playground and basically enjoying our school environment. In such a busy world it is imperative that we teach our children to “stop and smell the flowers” and ultimately lead by example. Thank you Angela for helping me to lead by example. When I first met Angela I didn’t realise how driven I was, pushing myself past my limits and basically felt worn out. Working with Angela’s natural approach reminded me to smell the roses along life’s journey instead of rushing to my next destination without thought of my deeper needs. All of the exercises and activities that we have worked on have been useful and I think that the reflection time afterwards has even helped me to focus on ways of dealing with difficult situations. I found the Sensory Awareness activity enlightening as I had never really thought about all those things being important, but just by writing them all down made me think about all these things as ready-made tools to distract me from difficult situations.
